I used to bake quite a bit when I was in University and I would always make my sugar cookies which my friends loved. Cookies can be cut and decorated any way you’d like so they make a great gift for any occasion. Who doesn’t love cookies?!
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Gradually add the dry ingredients.
Roll into a 1-inch thick slab and cut into desired shapes.
Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the oven until golden.
Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on cooling racks.
